SMCESS UNIFORM CODE --GRADES ONE TO FIVE

The jumper must be purchased from Flynn & O'Hara (F&O).
All slacks, shorts, shirts, blouses, and sweaters must be of the conventional uniform style so as to match those available from
F&O.

Girls
Blue Plaid Jumper with Solid White Blouse or Solid White Polo All Year
Navy Slacks with Solid White Polo All Year
Navy Shorts with Solid White Polo Seasonal*
Solid White, Black, Navy, or Gray Socks or Tights
Dress Shoes or Sneakers

Boys
Navy Slacks with Solid White Polo All Year
Navy Shorts with Solid White Polo Seasonal*
Solid White, Black, Navy, or Gray Socks
Dress Shoes or Sneakers

*Shorts may be worn from April 15 through October 15.
Blouses shall have Peter Pan or Oxford style collar.
Blouses and polos may be short- or long-sleeved.
Socks shall be visible above the shoe.
Solid navy or white cardigan or crew neck or v-neck sweaters may be worn.
Belts in shades of brown, black, or navy must be worn with slacks and shorts that have belt loops.
Shoes shall be either
a) dress shoes in shades of brown, black, or navy that are cut below the ankle and have a heel or
platform height of 1½" or less (no boots, clogs, sandals, or open heels or toes, please), or
b) sneakers that are predominantly white, black, or navy (no high-tops with jumpers or skirts, please)

Gym Uniform
The gym uniform may be purchased from Dave's Pro Shop. (If purchased elsewhere, it should be comparable in color and style.)

Girls and Boys
Solid Gold Tee-shirt
Solid Navy Shorts (jersey or mesh) and/or Solid Navy Sweatpants
Sneakers with Non-marking Soles
Socks - as stated in the uniform code

Girls Attire
All attire is to be worn properly:
Jumpers shall be no shorter than two inches above the knee.
Shorts shall end between two inches above and one inch below the knee.
Shirts should be tucked in.
Slacks and shorts are to be worn between the waist and the hips.
Slacks must fit over the shoes, not sit on top of them.
Socks shall be visible above the shoe.
Shoes should be tied snugly, using all eyelets.

Grooming
The key words are neat and clean, traditional and conservative. (Showy and trendy are taboo.)
Make-up shall not be worn. Fingernail polish and fake fingernails also are not permitted. Tattoos, fake or real, are forbidden, as
is writing on one's skin.

Hair
Hair shall be clean and well-kept. Eyes shall be visible. No outlandish hairstyles or unnatural colors are permitted.

Jewelry

Earrings shall be a matched set, one earring per ear. Earrings shall fit within the ear lobe. Necklaces shall not be worn, except
religious medals and scapulars, both of which must be worn beneath the clothing. Bracelets, except a wristwatch, shall not be
worn. One ring per hand (nothing gaudy) may be worn. Message buttons and pins may be worn only in so far as they are religious
in nature or representative of school programs such as student council and Odyssey of the Mind.


Boys Attire

All attire is to be worn properly:
Shorts shall end between two inches above and one inch below the knee.
Shirts should be tucked in.
Slacks and shorts are to be worn between the waist and the hips.
Slacks must fit over the shoes, not sit on top of them.
Shoes should be tied snugly, using all eyelets.
Belts shall not have more than three inches of excess length.
Hats are to be removed in the building.

Grooming

Tattoos, fake or real, are forbidden, as is writing on one's skin.

Hair
Hair shall be clean and well-kept. Hair shall be cut above the collar, ears, and brow. No outlandish hairstyles or unnatural colors
are permitted. Hair shall not be shorter than ¼"

Jewelry
Jewelry, other than a wristwatch and/or a ring, is not permitted. Medals and scapulars may be worn beneath the clothing.
Message buttons and pins may be worn only in so far as they are religious in nature or representative of school programs such
as student council and Odyssey of the Mind.



The principal reserves the right to make the final decision on any controversy
concerning the dress code.
