There are many details and styles of clothing that cannot be covered in the dress code. It is hoped that students and parents understand not only
the "letter" but the "spirit" of the dress code and choose clothing that is appropriate for students attending St. Marys Catholic Middle School.
All pants, shorts, shirts, skorts, blouses, vests, and sweaters must be of the conventional uniform style so as to match those available from
Flynn and O'Hara or Lands' End.
The administration maintains the right to make the final determination concerning the appropriateness of any student's attire.

GIRLS

SKIRT
Blue plaid skirt from Flynn and O'Hara Uniform Company or navy or khaki "at-the-knee-length" skort from Lands' End, Inc. The length of either
shall be no more than 3" above the knee when kneeling.

BLOUSE
Solid white short- or long-sleeve front button-down blouse (Peter Pan or Oxford type collar). Blouses may be worn with skirts, skorts, pants or
shorts. Blouses must be tucked in at all times.

POLO
Solid white short-sleeve or long-sleeve polo. Polos may be worn with skirts, skorts, pants or shorts. Polos must be tucked in at all times.

VEST
Navy vest from Flynn & O'Hara Uniform Company or navy sweater vest (WITH LOGO) from Lands' End, Inc. The vest must be worn with the
blouse; it may be worn with the polo.

PANTS
Navy or khaki dress pants. Pants cannot have outside pockets.

SHORTS
Navy or khaki dress shorts. Shorts cannot have outside pockets. Shorts should be no more than two inches above the knee or one inch below
the knee. Shorts may be worn from April 15 through October 15.

BELT
Black, brown, navy or other neutral color belt. Belts must be worn with pants or shorts that have belt loops. Belts shall not have more than a few
inches of excess length.

SWEATER
Solid navy, gray, or white cardigan, crew-neck, or V-neck sweaters (without hoods).

SWEATSHIRT
Navy or gray sweatshirts with school logo (without hoods).

SOCKS
Solid white, black, navy, gray, tan or brown socks, tights, or hose. Hose may not have any design.

SHOES
Black, brown, or navy shoes that are cut below the ankle and have a heel or platform height of no more than 2½ inches, measured at the back of
the shoe. Boots, clogs, sandals, etc. are not permitted. Open-toed or open-heeled footwear may not be worn. Shoes should be tied snugly, using
all eyelets.

SNEAKERS
Predominantly white, black, navy, brown, gray, or tan sneakers. Sneakers should be tied snugly, using all eyelets.
HAIR Hair should be kept neat and clean at all times. Only natural hair colors are permitted. Eyes must be visible. Outlandish hair styles are not
permitted.

JEWELRY
Earrings not larger than 1/4 inch in diameter or length are permitted. No more than two earrings per ear are permitted.
Necklaces may not be worn, except for religious medals or scapulars, both of which must be worn underneath clothing.
One wristwatch may be worn.

One ring per hand is permitted.

One message bracelet may be worn in as much as it is for a worthy cause.

Other bracelets are not permitted.

Anklets are not permitted.

Message buttons and pins, may be worn only in so far as they are religious in nature or representative of school programs or projects, such as
student council or Odyssey of the Mind.

Body piercings (visible) are not permitted.

NAILS
Nail polish may be worn, but black is not permitted. Fake fingernails are not permitted.

MAKE-UP
Make-up may be worn, but not in excess. Only natural colors are permitted.

GROOMING
Keep a neat and clean appearance at all times.
Visible tattoos (fake or real) are not acceptable.
Writing or drawing on the skin is not permitted.

BOYS

SHIRT
Solid white short-sleeve or long-sleeve front button-down dress shirt (Oxford type collar). Shirts must be buttoned all the way and tucked in at all
times. Dress shirts are required from October 16 through April 14.

POLO
Solid white short-sleeve or long-sleeve polo. Polos must be tucked in at all times. Polo shirts may be worn from April 15 through October 15.

belt, give or take an inch. Ties must be properly tied. Ties are required from October 16 through April 14.

Black, brown, or navy shoes that are cut below the ankle and have a heel or platform height of no more than 1½ inches. Boots or sandals are not

GYM UNIFORM (BOYS & GIRLS)
The gym uniform may be purchased from Dave's Pro Shop. (If purchased elsewhere, it should be comparable in color and style.)

SHIRTS
Solid gold tee shirt.
Gold tee shirt with the SMCESS logo or any ECCHS logo.
Navy tee shirt with the SMCESS logo.

SHORTS/PANTS
Solid navy or maroon shorts/athletic pants (jersey or mesh) with/without SMCESS logo. Shorts/pants may not have any lettering/logos across the
seat. Pants cannot be "zip-off" or "tear-away" style.

SNEAKERS
Non-marking soles.
